Our stylist's favorites - the fashion essentials for fall

Written by Carrefour Frontenac | September 7, 2021

Autumn is slowly rearing its head, and with the new season comes new trends to adopt! To help you update your wardrobe with the season’s key pieces, our stylist Julie presents the 3 key trends for fall. Check out her tips!

Trend #1: denim in all its forms

Whether we prefer it dark, pale, faded, classic or updated, timeless denim is king and queen of our wardrobe this season. But how can we wear it to be at the top of the trends? To find out Julie’s advice on how to pull off the total denim look or how to choose the right jeans, we invite you to watch the video clip below!

How to choose the right jeans for your figure

One thing is certain: jeans are one of the most versatile garments. Whether you prefer them chic or casual, they are an essential in everyone’s wardrobe. A wide range of cuts and styles are available, at prices ranging from entry level to very high end. Here’s how to choose the ideal jeans for your figure.

V-shape:

The eye-catching accent should be at the bottom of the jeans to balance the silhouette. “You should therefore opt for jeans with flared or even wide legs. Pale colors can also be very interesting to create the desired effect,” says Julie.

I-shaped silhouette:

To give volume to this slender silhouette, trumpet-cut, straight or wide-leg jeans are great. “Also try faded denim with details,” says our stylist.

Silhouette en A:

“Flared jeans and bootcuts are your best friends!” exclaims Julie. These cuts are ideal for balancing out an A-line silhouette. Preferably, opt for dark jeans with few details.0pt 389.4pt 424.8pt 443.0pt;”>

X-shaped silhouette:

“Most jeans cuts will flatter your figure, but low-rise is best,” explains our stylist.

H-shaped silhouette:

“Flared jeans and a low waist are your allies!” says Julie. Indeed, these two styles will help to emphasize the waist of this silhouette, which has little or none at all.

O-shaped figure:

The ideal style for this figure is straight, low-waisted, dark-colored jeans. “Opt for a pair of solid-colored jeans made of a stretchy fabric for the perfect look,” says our stylist.

Julie's favorite denim items

Favorite #1: The denim jacket

This reinvented denim jacket is ideal for most figures. “Thanks to its belt at the waist, it will help to create the illusion of a waist for figures with little or no waist,” adds Julie.4pt 247.8pt 283.2pt 318.6pt 354.0pt 389.4pt 424.8pt 443.0pt;”>

Favorite #2: The suit-style skirt

The denim skirt, whether short, midi or maxi, is making a comeback this season! “To wear it, go for crop tops so as not to overwhelm the silhouette,” says our stylist. Here are Julie’s recommendations for finding the ideal denim skirt for your figure:

  • V-shaped: the short A-line or semi-flared skirt is the best choice
  • I-shaped: midi length is your ideal style. You can choose it with details, such as a faded fabric, for example
  • A-line silhouette: the dark skirt, without details, straight or semi-flared cut
  • X-silhouette: the flared, straight-cut skirt
  • H-silhouette: the flared skirt with movement, designed in a light and supple denim
  • O-silhouette: the straight and loose-fitting skirt

Another important aspect to consider when buying a denim skirt is our height, in addition to our figure. “For the smallest girls, a skirt that is too long will have the effect of flattening the figure,” explains Julie.2pt 141.6pt 177.0pt 212.4pt 247.8pt 283.2pt 318.6pt 354.0pt 389.4pt 424.8pt 443.0pt;”>

Trend #2: dare to wear a tone-on-tone look

For several seasons now, the minimalist movement has been increasingly present in fashion and is particularly in vogue this fall. One trend inspired by this movement is the tone-on-tone look, also known as the monochrome look, which consists of wearing a single color from head to toe. Equally elegant and trendy is the cameo look, which consists of using two or three shades of the same color. Find out how to achieve the tone-on-tone look with Julie’s tips in the video below!

The tone-on-tone look can be worn in both chic and casual versions. To take your outfit up a notch, why not try a bold tone on tone look using the season’s key colors? “The fall palette evokes a reconnection with nature: the colors are inspired by natural elements, such as ochre, ivory and pure white. Brown is also making a comeback: this reassuring color reminiscent of the earth brings us back to our roots,” comments our stylist. Soft pink and its variations will also be available at most retailers this fall. This soft, human and reassuring color will bring a touch of freshness to our looks this season.
