An integral part of your daily life for 50 years, we are proud to celebrate these decades of existence and services dedicated to our loyal and valued customers.
Since its modest beginnings in 1974, Carrefour Frontenac has prospered and evolved, becoming an iconic place where families gather, friends meet, and memories are made. Over the years, we have witnessed many transformations, the evolution of fashion trends, retail and the advent of new technologies, but our commitment to customer satisfaction has remained constant.
May 29, 1974, marked the official opening of Carrefour Frontenac, known as the “new heart of Thetford Mines”. This vast 200,000-square-foot complex, housing 35 stores including Zellers, Steinberg, A.L. Green and many local businesses, quickly became the largest shopping center between Quebec City and Sherbrooke.
In 1988, the center underwent a beautification program, marking the beginning of a period of renovations. Despite these changes, Carrefour Frontenac remains anchored in the heart of its community, organizing memorable events and competitions. Particularly memorable are the tent-trailer draws in 1974 and the famous “Bob Cat” cars for the opening, as well as the 35th anniversary celebration, testifying to its ongoing commitment to its customers and its local environment.
Louise Ferland: at the heart of her center
We would like to highlight the commitment of Ms. Louise Ferland, who has brilliantly managed the marketing department of Carrefour Frontenac over the years. In addition to traditional events such as Easter and Christmas, she has brilliantly innovated with initiatives such as Christmas in July and casino days, bringing a touch of originality and dynamism to our events program, leaving her mark in the hearts of Thetford residents.
